Basically, when i press the start button, all the dash lights come on, but only a thin line square appears around the p (park) on the dashboard, and the car cannot be shifted into. When i try to start the car the first time i push the start button, nothing happens, the second time i push the button the parking brake stays on and the check engine light is on.
